The thing about self-care is that it doesn't have to look one particular way. Often we hear about reading a book, exercising, taking a bath, meditating, etc. That is great...if you like to do those things. Before you start taking the advice of others on the fun and sparkly things you should do to take care of your self, I challenge you to consider things that would help lift some of the weight off of your mind. Is there a phone call that you have been dreading to make? Is there a bill that you don't want to open? Do you need to have a frank conversation with someone about a friendship/relationship you are in? Think about what's stopping you from doing those things. I play a "game" with myself thinking of the worst thing that could happen if I did something and think about what I would do if that actually happened. For example, if I open up my credit card bill it will be such a high number that I will curl up and cry for days in despair. That could actually happen, but before it does, I try to think of a game plan such as...I expected it to be high and now I know what it is and I don't have to hide from it anymore and get anxious about the unknown. Tackle something you have been avoiding and then do the fun and sparkly things like aromatherapy or losing yourself in a good book. What are your thoughts?
