Bullying. The word itself can conjure memories of taunting and ridicule that you thought were buried in the past. Perhaps you weren't bullied, but chances are that you witnessed bullying behavior at some point in your childhood. Understandably, parents want to protect their children against bullies, and becoming a proactive parent against bullying is very important. Children need to be able to recognize bullying, learn how to advocate for those being bullied, and be given the tools on how to report bullying. While bully prevention is discussed in school, the conversation needs to continue at home. Discussions should be age appropriate, so I have included some information on how to talk to your children about bullying. Don't forget - cyber bullying happens too!
